Funding Supports


National Disability Insurance Scheme


The Potential Ability Group is a provider of the following support categories under the NDIS:

  • CAPACITY BUILDING: Improved Daily Living

Department of Veteran’s Affairs


The Potential Ability Group accepts direct referrals for DVA eligible clients from GPs, Discharge Planners and treating Occupational Therapists - at no cost to the client. We provide home-based assessments in order to determine the most appropriate recommendations for the client in their own environment.


Home Care Packages (HCP)/Support at Home (SAH)


The Potential Ability Group accepts direct referrals for  HCP and SAH eligible clients from package providers or self managed individuals - at no cost to the client. We provide home-based assessments in order to determine the most appropriate recommendations for the client in their own environment.


Private Health Funds


The Potential Ability Group Occupational Therapists are all registered health fund providers. The amount you can claim depends on your individual policy. If you choose to use your health fund to help pay for Occupational Therapy you will be required to pay on the day of service provision, you will be provided with a receipt and can then contact your private health provider to make a claim. Please contact our friendly office staff should you have any questions.


Medicare – GPCCMP (GP Chronic Condition Management Plan)


A referral from a GP is required which outlines a GPCCMP, or GP Chronic Condition Management Plan for the client. The GP will allocate the client up to five Occupational Therapy sessions (per calendar year) which can be used for assessment or therapy. Please be aware that there is a gap for this service and that accounts must be paid on the day of service provision - see our Fees page for more information.


Medicare – Better Start for Children with Disability* Initiative


A referral from a GP, specialist or consultant physician for the purpose of contributing to the child’s disability treatment and management plan or providing therapy under an established plan. The referrer will allocate up to four assessment sessions and/or ten therapy sessions (the client is eligible for twenty therapy sessions in total, with a maximum of ten per referral). Please be aware that there is a gap for this service and that accounts must be paid on the day of service provision - see our Fees page for more information.

* Better Start for Children with Disability funding is also available for assistance with diagnosis; however The Potential Ability Group does not currently offer this service.


Medicare – Therapy under the Helping Children with Autism* Program


A referral from a consultant paediatrician or psychiatrist is required which outlines the client’s treatment and management plan and allocates up to ten therapy sessions for the client (the client is eligible for twenty therapy sessions in total, with a maximum of ten per referral). Please be aware that there is a gap for this service and that accounts must be paid on the day of service provision - see our Fees page for more information.

Medicare – Mental Health Initiatives


Please note that The Potential Ability Group cannot accept referrals under any of the Mental Health Initiatives. To find a registered provider please contact Occupational Therapy Australia - SA.
