Jemma supports people of all ages to reach their occupational goals within the Fleurieu and Southern Adelaide regions for The Potential Ability Group. Jemma is a Senior Occupational Therapist, after completing a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy with Honours in 2016, Jemma came to us and has never looked back. With a keen interest in both working with children/young adults to develop their skills and in home modifications/equipment prescription, her role allows the opportunity to work across both facets and continue to strengthen her skills and knowledge.
Jemma loves to learn and this has seen her abilities quickly grow her into a highly experienced OT in recommending home modifications and equipment prescriptions as well as working with children/young adults to develop skills such as self-regulation, social skills, fine motor skills and self-care through fun and meaningful activity. Jemma is passionate about continually developing skills in these areas, and in learning more about upper limb therapy to support more clients.
One thing Jemma loves about being an OT is how no question or query is ‘off limits’ and that she gets to support individuals to engage in a wide range of activities, all which are so meaningful for the client and their families, and that she also is able to engage in so many weird and wonderful activities along the way to support individuals to achieve their goals, which is always fun with the younger clients!
In her own time, Jemma plays women's football, enjoys time with her cute ‘fluff ball’ dog and hangs out with friends and family - especially at the beach or when eating out! It’s not surprising really that beach and eating out go together for our lovely Jemma – she might have served up freshly made fish and chips to you back in the day if you ever passed through Whyalla!
